Everything Is Okay (and other helpful lies)
“There are plenty of laughs — the FUN-eral (“Shitty Sad Luau Song”) for a fallen comrade is mighty weird fun, and the female masturbation trio “I Can Do It By Myself” is a showstopper. I hope these talented authors continue to tweak the piece after this admirable premiere, because the journey from “Everything is Okay” to “ I Don’t Have to Smile Today” is real and worthwhile.”

“I think you need to go see Everything is Okay (and other helpful lies) playing at Cleveland Public Theatre (CPT), and I suggest you get your tickets now as word will get out soon that this dark, irreverent, and beautifully performed musical comedy is a SMASH. The play was written and composed by Cleveland natives Melissa Crum and Caitlin Lewins, developed by CPT, and directed skillfully by nationally renowned actor and director Matthew Wright. Crum and Lewins also star in the play, and these two artists demonstrate conclusively that they are gifted songwriters, lyricists, and performers. You will assuredly be hearing a lot more from them. There’s a reason the cast, musicians, director, and crew got a spontaneous and raucous standing ovation when I saw this play. Everything is Okay is that good.”

“Today's mix of milennials, Generation Z, and refusing-to-grow-old Baby Boomers will definitely recognize aspects of themselves in Everything is Okay (and other helpful lies), written and composed by Melissa Crum & Caitlin Lewins. Everything is Okay compellingly conveys the emotion and angst, the expectation and desperation of a group of friends who drink together so they don't have to drink alone.”
